Removal of Love Handles by Liposuction
The word “Love Handles” sounds romantic but there is nothing romantic about having “love handles”. What is really means is accumulation of excessive fat around your waist that is very resistant to diet and exercise. Besides, having fat around your waist can be very bad for your health. It carries risk of developing diabetes, heart conditions or breast cancer. So before these things happen it’s a good idea to get rid of them. Love Handles Removal Liposuction Procedure
There are techniques most commonly used to target belly fat in the liposuction procedure. They are tumescent liposuction and ultrasound-assisted liposuction.
- In tumescent liposuction procedure, the first step before the doctor cuts into the skin is to make the area of the body where fat is to be removed expand and firm up by injecting a large amount of tumescent fluid into it. This fluid, which contains anesthetic and the drug epinephrine, reduces pain and blood loss.
- In ultrasound-assisted liposuction, the tip of the cannula generates ultrasound waves that liquefy fat before it is suctioned. This technique is effective in targeting fatty deposits that are fibrous.
Here is how it works!
First, a local anesthetic is used to numb the area to be treated. With the Tumescent technique, only a local anesthetic is used to numb the area and the patient remains coherent throughout the procedure, which is very safe and relatively painless during recovery. Tiny incisions are then placed along the sides of the belly, allowing the doctor to insert the cannula, sculpt and trim your sides and a tiny cannula measuring 3 mm is inserted. With the VASER ultrasonic energy fat is gently melted directly under the skin and that encourages skin-tightening. The VASER is capable of melting dense fat in the stomach area area. The cannula is then guided to the targeted areas to suction out the melted fat with precision and resulting in less pain, bruising and downtime for the patient.

What are the post-op side effects of love handles liposuction?
Because VASER Liposuction is such a safe and targeted procedure that utilizes refined instruments to perform the surgery, the side effects are minimal and any discomfort or mild soreness goes away within a day or two. There are no stitches and the tiny puncture wounds heal within two days. Patients may have mild discomfort and perhaps some light bruising, but they can walk, resume normal activities and return to work within 24 to 48 hours. A compression garment similar to a girdle will be worn around the torso for 3 days and nights, and then at least 8 hours a day for 2 weeks. Good results can be seen within a few weeks, final results within six months. While it does take a while for the swelling to go down, there is usually minimal to no pain involved.
