Introduction

Pressotherapy is a body contouring treatment which reduces the water retention from the body and in turn removes all the toxins and waste products from the peripheral tissue. This in turn increases the blood circulation and lymphatic drainage very effectively. After that the toxins from the body is removed with extra water and waste products. Pressotherapy also helps in transporting the fat molecules into the other muscles and organs of the body.
Pressotherapy prevents or reduces the treatment on its own or by combining with other treatment on the basis of its type and severity. This treatment is very effective after vigorous exercise because it give maximum effect of exercises on the muscles of tissues. Pressotherapy is also very effective as compared to compression garment because with compression garment only a mild static compression is given while pressotherapy gives strong static compression.
Pressotherapy reduces water retention and helps the body remove toxins and waste products out of the peripheral tissues by boosting both blood circulation and lymphatic drainage in a very time and efficient way.
The body then naturally expels toxins, excess water and waste products. And equally importantly, pressotherapy helps transport fat molecules from into the general circulation for oxidation (“burning”) in the muscles and other organs.
For these reasons, pressotherapy is an ideal treatment for prevention and reduction, either on its own or in combination with other treatments – depending on the type and severity .
Furthermore, pressotherapy is perfect after vigorous exercise as it maximises and focuses the effects of exercise on the tissues. Similarly, pressotherapy is significantly more effective in comparison to compression garments, such as the so-called , corsets and flight socks. This is because compression garments offer mild static compression, while pressotherapy offers a strong dynamic compression wave, in addition to strong static compression. Pressotherapy is a very versatile and cost-effective technique.

Lymphatic Drainage And Its Purpose

Lymphatic drainage activates the flow of lymph through the lymphatic pathways in the body. These pathways are responsible for collection and removal of waste products from the body tissues. Approximately 4 liters of fluid flow through the lymphatic system everyday under normal circumstances. The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in the body’s immune system.
Lymphatic drainage therapy utilizes anatomical and physiological knowledge of the human circulatory system to stimulate the activity of lymphatic ducts. This therapy increases the flow of lymph in critical places and accelerates metabolism in the tissues.
The Lymphastim works on the principle of intermittent pneumatic compression (pressotherapy). It utilizes an advancing pressure wave to facilitate compressive lymphatic drainage. The treated area(s) are massaged using by compression in air-inflated sleeves and the pressure in regulated by the control unit (compressor) through a system of hoses. The individual chambers of the special sleeves applicators fill with air pre-programmed intervals to create a slowly advancing wave of gentle and rhythmical pressure. The air is removed after the end of the cycle. Pneumatic pressotherapy is positively perceived by clients as a very pleasant and effective method of treatment.

Indications Of Lymphatic Drainage Therapy

Biological Effects Of Lymphatic Drainage Therapy

The circulatory system moves nutrients, gases and wastes to and from to help fight diseases as well as helping stabilize the body’s temperature and pH to maintain homeostasis. The circulatory system may be seen strictly as a blood distribution network, but some consider the circulatory system as being composed of the cardiovascular system, which distributes blood, and the lymphatic system, which distributes lymph.
Two types of fluids move through the circulatory system: blood and lymph. The blood and the heart and blood vessels, form the cardiovascular system. The lymph and the lymph nodes and lymph vessels form the lymphatic system. Collectively, the cardiovascular system and the lymphatic system comprise the body’s circulatory system.
Small lymphatic vessels gradually coalesce into larger and larger ones which return the lymph to the blood stream by emptying into the subclavian veins. The lymphatic system also includes nodes which serve as filters to form an interface between the superficial lymphatic system and deep lymphatic system. If lymphatic vessels are damaged as a result of an injury, surgery, infection or other means, the lymph cannot properly flow and it will accumulate in the body’s tissues.
Lymphatic drainage therapy utilizes modern anatomical and physiological knowledge of the circulatory system. Lymphatic drainage therapy stimulates the activity of lymphatic ducts, increases the flow of lymph to critical places, enhances the blood flow and accelerates the body’s fluid exchange.
First the patient is made to lie down comfortably on a cot, on the basis of the area which is treated specific suits are kept for patients. Long boots are used for leg area and a wide belt is used for abdomen and hip area and long gloves are given for arms. After that the suit is being connected to air supplies through a device which controls compressed air feed to the suit according to the program which is installed.
The air circulation in suit effectively treats the problems in body areas and increases the metabolism of the body and blood flow. At Dezire Clinic, Pressotherapy, advanced equipment is used which is highly effective, this procedure is done by an experienced surgeon and it gives very safe and 100 percent result. This procedure takes around 40 minutes to complete and it needs 10 to 15 sessions and it is repeated for every 2 to 3 days.
At a higher pressure, specific area decreases and the slope of hydrostatic pressure decreases due to which infiltration of liquid and transfer of gas takes place through the walls of capillaries. A condition is created for faster oxygen which is used by the surrounding tissues. This in turn stimulates the process of healing of skin, when there is an increase in local pressure and decrease in pulse which in turn improves the blood vessel tone and selective permeability of capillaries. This increases the transcapillary metabolism and exchange of liquid between blood and interstitial tissue which in turn improves the blood supply to skeletal muscles, endothelium of veins and arteries.

Benefits Of Lymphastim

It is helpful in the treatment of edemas, pain management, and preventive care. The body is not burdened with pharmaceuticals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pressotherapy is a compression technique designed to help improve overall circulation and tone up the circulatory system for faster detoxification and elimination, giving clients a horde of health and wellness benefits. This is a revolutionary process that promotes the body’s natural functions. Pressotherapy is designed to increase the venous and lymphatic flow and enhance extra fluid clearance.
A computer-controlled pump inflates the individual sections of the multi- chambered garments, which are positioned around the limbs. The pump inflates each chamber of the garment individually. Once a chamber has been inflated, its pneumatic circuit closes. This enables the pump to maintain the preset level and avoid the balancing of pressure with the other chambers. When one chamber is inflated, this causes an increase in pressure of the previously inflated chamber, creating an Automatic Double Pressure Gradient. Pressure massage can improve the circulation of blood throughout the body increasing oxygen. Helps remove metabolic waste and can be beneficial in decreasing blood pressure. Pressotherapy can help increase lymph circulation, aids in the elimination of metabolic wastes, stimulates the immune system, and enhance Endermologie treatment of lymphatic drainage. Massage stimulates and tones muscles and joints, and strengthens connective tissues. Aids in relaxation, relieves fatigue and provides relief from muscle spasms. The massage stimulates motor nerve points, alleviates stress and tension, and promotes a feeling a well being. Massage increases the supply of blood to the skin nourishing tissues and thus facilitating regeneration.
  • Improves circulation and venous problems (eg Varicose and spider Veins)
  • Reduces bloating and swelling
  • Improves skin oxygenation
  • Improves skin tone and firmness
  • Shapes the legs
  • Immediate relief and comfort for heavy legs, water retention, and poor circulation
  • Body shaping and profiling
  • Weight management
  • Pre and post liposuction treatment
  • Reduces localized lipolytic edema
  • Relieves leg pain and swelling
For best results, it is recommended that clients receive a series of treatments, ranging from 8-15 treatments, depending on specific individual needs.

For the procedure, a patient comfortably lies down on a cot. Depending upon the area of application, the whole body or an area in question, specific suits are put on a patient: long boots for legs, a wide belt for abdomen and hips, long gloves for arms. The Pressotherapy suit is connected to air supplies, through a device, which controls a compressed air feed to the suit, in accordance with an installed program. The air circulating in the suit effectively impacts the problem body areas, edemas, and stimulating metabolism and blood flow. This effect is achieved by an accurately measured high and low pressure alternation. At our clinic, the Pressotherapy is performed with advanced equipment, which ensures a highly effective procedure. The procedures are conducted under a strict control by an experienced specialist and it guarantees the absolute safety and the 100 percent result. Duration of a procedure is approximately 40 minutes. The treatment course includes 10 to 15 sessions. The sessions are scheduled every 2 or 3 days.

Action

A higher air pressure (barocompression) at a specific area decreases the gradient of hydrostatic pressure and, thus, decreases liquid filtration and gas transfer through the capillary walls. This creates conditions for a faster oxygen use by adjacent tissue . The skin healing processes are well stimulated. Combination of local pressure increase and decrease (pulse barotherapy) promotes improvement of muscle blood vessel tone and capillary selective permeability. This action increases the transcapillary metabolism and liquid exchange transfer speed between blood and interstitial tissue, improves the blood supply to skeletal muscles and endothelium of arteries and veins.

Lymphastim is a state-of-the-art device which is primarily used for the therapeutic treatment of lymphoedema of the extremities as well as to generally improve blood flow to the extremities. The device functions on the principle of intermittent pneumatic compression, also known as pressotherapy. The extremity to be treated is inserted into an inflatable sleeve whicht hen massages the extremity when the sleeve is filled with compressed air, regulated by the control unit, via a system of hoses. Each of sleeves consists of a series of mutually independent air chambers that are inflated in a predefined cycle according to the needs of the client. Many studies have shown that intermittent pneumatic pressotherapy is a very effective tool in the treatment of a client’s lymphatic system disorder(s).
