Facial Skin Tightening
As we age our body’s production of collagen and elastin fibres goes down and down. As a result the connective tissue in the face starts to weaken and the skin loses its tone and leading to loose skin and wrinkles. As a result of gravity those wrinkles droop down resulting in sagging cheeks, jowls and drooping eyelids.
In the process of cosmetic skin tightening, the underlying connective tissue is contracted which effectively tightens the skin or which involve a lifting technique often accompanied by the removal of excess, redundant skin.
Skin tightening treatments for face
Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)
With age eyelids get stretched and the muscles supporting them weaken. As a result, excess fat may gather above and below your eyelids, causing sagging eyebrows, droopy upper lids and bags under your eyes. Blepharoplasty can reverse these signs of aging giving a more youthful and fresh look.
Incision is made along the fold of upper eyelid, excess skin, muscle and fat is removed and then the incision is closed.
On the lower lid, the incision is taken just below the lashes in your eye’s natural crease or inside the lower lid. Excess fat, muscle and sagging skin is removed or redistributed and incision is then closed.
The procedure usually takes less than two hours, depending on the amount and location of tissue being removed.
The results are of youthful and fresh looking eyelids without bagginess and droopy eyelids.
Brow Lift
Brow lift is also known as forehead lift. In this procedure excessive skin on forehead is removed along with repositioning of underlying muscles and tissue. It rejuvenated the face above eyes and the look is refreshed that depicts person’s natural vibrance.
Heavy, sagging brow can be corrected and deep furrows eliminated by brow lift thereby restoring a smoother, more youthful contour to the upper one-third of the face.
Different techniques used for brow lift surgery include
Endoscopic brow lift
For an endoscopic brow lift, your cosmetic surgeon will make a series of very short incisions (about ¾” in length) just behind the hairline. Then, using a special tiny camera and thin instruments, he or she will reposition the muscles and lift underlying tissues of the forehead, removing excess fat and tissue as needed to create a naturally more youthful brow.
Limited Incision Brow Lift
In temporal or limited incision brow lift slightly longer incision than an endoscopic brow lift is taken and is most commonly performed in conjunction with eyelid surgery. Incisions about 1 inch long are made just above each temple, behind the hairline. Through this incision the surgeon will reposition or lift the skin and tissue.
Classic
It was once the standard technique ,however it has fallen out of fashion, as with well-qualified cosmetic surgeons and new techniques needed improvements with less invasive techniques are possible. It might be necessary to use this technique in certain cases. Incision in this technique runs from ear to ear. Excess skin, fat and tissue are removed and the remaining skin and brow muscles are repositioned into a more youthful appearance.
Brow lift surgery can be performed on an outpatient basis, using general anesthesia or intravenous sedation with local anesthesia. The duration of surgery depends on the type of brow lift as well as whether or not another procedure is being performed at the same time. Your incisions may be closed with sutures or staples, which are typically removed about 1 week after surgery.
Typically very little pain is experienced by patients after a brow lift, but it is common to feel slight discomfort as well as a sensation of tightness throughout the forehead. Swelling and bruising are most common during the first 10 days or so after surgery, and are mostly resolved after about 2 weeks.
Face Lift
Facelift is a cosmetic surgical procedure in which unwanted wrinkle are removed by tightening the skin of the face, thereby signs of ageing are reversed.
The procedure is done under general anesthesia or intravenous sedation. It can be performed as a solo procedure or can be done in combination with dermal fillers, laser resurfacing, wrinkle reduction or facial implants.
There can be 3 options for the facelift procedure depending upon degree of change required. They are a traditional facelift, limited incision facelift or a neck lift.
For traditional facelift the incision begins in the hairline at temples, goes around ear and ends in the lower scalp. Fat and underlying tissue is redistributed whereas deeper layer of tissue and muscles are lifted. Skin is then draped over the uplifted contours and excess skin is trimmed away. Sutures or skin adhesives close the incisions.
When the incision is taken at the temples and continued around ear and possibly within the lower eyelids or under the upper lip, it’s called as limited incision facelift.
Neck Lift– Neck lift can fix problems like sagging jowls, loose neck skin and fat accumulation under the chin. The incision in neck lift surgery begins in front of the ear lobe and wraps around behind the ear ending in the lower scalp.
You will be able to see improvement of a facelift as swelling and bruising subside in 2 weeks time. After 3-4 weeks your final result will be visible. The facelift surgery not only restores a more youthful and rested appearance, but also help you feel more confident about yourself. Facelift results will be long-lasting.
Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing (laser face tightening)
Facial skin tightening non-surgical
Array of narrow focused microbeams of light are delivered which creates columns of heat within the skin. Due to these beams of heat tissue gets heated leading to collagen shrinkage and tissue injury which in turn stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin tissue. As the new tissue is formed, it decreases sunspots, large pores, lines and wrinkles, acne scars giving a more youthful skin tone and texture.
The fractional ablative approach with CO2 fractional laser gives the most dramatic results.
Since the laser penetrates to precise, controlled depth, the procedure is very safe and predictable.
Radiofrequency For Facial Rejuvenation
This is a non-surgical procedure used for face tightening. RF energy is able to penetrate deep into the skin and affect the deeper dermis and subcutaneous layers, causing tightening and improvements to the underlying tissue structure for facial rejuvenation.
Thread Lift
A threadlift is a safe, convenient and less invasive way to tighten the skin around cheeks, jawline and neck. With the help of special threads, skin and facial tissue is held in place after surgery. Clear threads are used to further minimize any traces of surgery. The results of thread lifts are noticeable almost immediately and without the risk and inconvenience of more intensive procedures.
