Melanocyte is the most advance form of treatment for vitilgo which treats larger area. After 4 to 6 months of the procedure repigmentation can occur and the result of this process is much better as compared to other surgical procedure. Moreover this is also used in treatment of the difficult areas of the body such ad areolas, genitals and knuckles.

The Procedure details:

  1. In mealoncyte transplantation first proper medical history is taken and then it is examined.
  2. Then local anesthesia is given and a thin piece of skin is taken for biopsy which contains melanocytes which gives colour to the skin.
  3. Dermabrasion is used for abrading the skin under local anesthesia after that skin mixture is applied.
  4. After that skin gets attached to the surface and the process of repigmentation starts.

What are the precautions you have to take after the procedure?

For one week of the treatment dressing is applied. In most of the cases there is no swelling or bruises after this. Initially you will have some discomfort after the procedure which can be easily managed by taking painkiller. • Only a small piece of area is enough for treating larger area and its result are very good.
  • After 2 months of the procedure repigmentation is seen.
  • This procedure gives minimal side effect.

What is autologous skin grafts?

In autologous skin grafts a skin graft is taken from one area of the patient body and then it is attached to other area. This is used for treating small patches, first a section of normal skin is removed and then the pigmented skin is placed on the depigmented area.

Skin grafts using blisters

In this procedure, the doctor creates blisters on the patient’s pigmented skin by using heat, suction, or freezing cold. The tops of the blisters are then cut out and transplanted to a depigmented skin area.

Micropigmentation (tattooing)

Tattooing implants pigment into the skin with a special surgical instrument. This procedure works best for the lip area, particularly in people with dark skin.
