Different Types of Hair Transplant

Hair loss is a serious problem among men as well as women. Due to various causes of hair loss it is a very common problem. Hair loss can happen due to hormonal changes, aging, family history as well as injuries like burns etc. The sooner hair loss starts the more severe it can turn out. Hair transplant surgery is a good option for people who start losing the hair at their twenties or thirties. It is a working reconstructive treatment for baldness. Hair transplant is basically the substitution of some hair from a non bald area to a bald area. Most hair fall occurs either at the top of your head or at the sides of your head. The transplanted areas will never feature hair fall since after the transplant those areas are made to resistant towards becoming bald. Making sure that only a few hairs are transplanted each session is mandatory. While the process becomes lengthier it gives you a much better foundation for the transplant.

There are three types of hair transplant methods:

Follicular Unit Strip Surgery (FUSS)

This procedure includes a strip of hair from the donor region is taken and is implanted to the thinning area. The donor area is then closed with sutures. This process takes a long time since the donor area takes several days to heal. This procedure is the most common and treats everything from average baldness to extreme baldness. It allows several grafts to be transplanted during a single session.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)

This procedure involves the hairs from the back of your head or the sides being taken and transplanted to your balding areas. This transplant is done in groups of four or more hair strands. This procedure basically mimics how hairs grow naturally. The results if this procedure looks much more natural than the rest. Also this process doesn’t involve any deep and major cuts to your scalp which the other procedures do. The recovery time of this process is short and the scars are not many.

Scalp Reduction

This process is not widely used. This procedure involves in cutting off the balding part of the scalp and then the remaining scalp is stretched cover the area and joined. This process can cause severe problems later on due to the scalp getting stretched and thinned. Also the tightening of the scalp leads to even more hair fall after wards the surgery.

Factors to consider

Few things to consider while going for hair transplant is that never expect the same results which were there before the hair fall. These procedures only help to gather fullness in your hair lines and provide your bald areas with coverage. Many times it can be the case where you may require more than a single surgery since the grafts may die out and repetition of the process may be required. These are some of factors which you need to consider before going for hair transplant procedures. Also if you are planning on getting it done make sure you approach a reputed hair transplant clinic.
